Adelaide hire limousines and chauffeured vehicles must comply with South Australian child-restraint law. Capsule, forward-facing, and booster seats are available on request, all at no extra charge on every standard executive sedan, V-Class, or stretch booking. Tell us the child's age and weight at the booking call. We fit the right seat.

South Australian child-restraint law

Child-restraint requirements in South Australia follow the national Australian Standard. The rules apply on chauffeured hire vehicles the same way they apply on private cars and on rideshare:

Birth to 6 months. Approved rear-facing capsule. Mandatory.

6 months to 4 years. Approved rear-facing or forward-facing child seat. Mandatory.

4 to 7 years. Approved forward-facing child seat or booster. Mandatory if the child cannot meet seatbelt fit requirements, which means shoulder belt across the centre of the shoulder and lap belt across the upper thighs on every ride.

7 years and over. Standard adult seatbelt if fit requirements are met. Booster recommended if the child is short for their age, especially where the shoulder belt would otherwise cross the neck.

These rules are enforced by SA Police, and the chauffeur on the night is responsible for ensuring every passenger is correctly restrained before the vehicle moves an inch from the kerb.

What seats we provide

Limo Hire Adelaide provides on request:

·Approved rear-facing convertible seat (6 months to ~2 years).
·Approved forward-facing seat (~2 years to ~4 years).

All seats are AS/NZS 1754-certified. Every one. Within their certified service life and fitted before the chauffeur arrives, so the child can be seated quickly without standing on the kerb fiddling with straps in the rain or summer heat.

When to ask for a child seat

Tell us at the booking call. The chauffeur needs:

·The child's age (in months for under-2s, in years for older children).
·The child's approximate weight if under-2.
·The type of seat you prefer (capsule, rear-facing, forward-facing, booster).

For multi-child bookings (a family with two or three children of different ages), confirm the seat layout for each child, and we can fit up to three child seats on a stretch limousine or Mercedes-Benz V-Class with appropriate anchor points across the rear rows.

Stretch limousine vs sedan child-seat fitting

Executive sedan. Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, Lexus ES, Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Anchor points behind the rear bench seat for child-seat tether straps, with ISOFIX anchors available in newer European models. Sedan child-seat fitting is straightforward. One or two seats across the rear bench.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class people-mover. Three to seven passenger seats in standard configuration. Up to three child seats can be fitted across the second row. Tether anchor points are behind each second-row seat.

Stretch limousine. Stretch limousines fit child seats in the rear cabin seating, with the chauffeur fitting the seat using cabin seatbelts. Configuration depends on the stretch build. We confirm at the booking call.

Stretch Hummer and party bus. Larger vehicles fit child seats, but the seating configuration is bench-style around the perimeter rather than the standard forward-facing seat layout used on most family vehicles. For Hummer or party-bus child-seat bookings, we confirm the seat positions before the day.

Booster seat fitting

Booster seats (for children aged approximately 4 to 7) use the vehicle's standard seatbelt to secure the child, lifting them to the right height so the shoulder belt crosses the centre of the shoulder rather than the neck across every run. We provide approved booster seats on request. Fitted and checked before the run.

For children just over 7 who are short for their age (the seatbelt shoulder strap crosses the neck rather than the shoulder), a booster is still recommended. Tell us at booking and we will include one.

Wedding chauffeur

Wedding-day, formal-night, family-airport bookings

Family airport pickups. Capsule or forward-facing child seats on request. For inbound airport transfers with infants or toddlers, tell us the child's age at booking, and the seat is fitted before the chauffeur enters the Level 4 P1 Terminal Car Park chauffeur zone.

Wedding-day flower-girl or ring-bearer. Child seats for children attending a wedding can be fitted to the bridal-party shuttle, or to a separate sedan that picks up the children with a parent and follows the bridal party to the venue.

Year 12 formal-night bookings. Year 12 students are 17 or 18. Child seats are not required for any formal-night booking. The under-18 alcohol policy still applies regardless of seat configuration.

Sporting and event-day family bookings. Available for family bookings. Adelaide Oval matches and other event-day pickups. Capsule, forward-facing, or booster on request.

How many child seats can fit in a stretch limousine?

Three or four child seats in a Chrysler 300 stretch, depending on the seat type. We confirm the configuration at the booking call.

Are your child seats Australian-certified?

Yes. All child seats provided by Limo Hire Adelaide carry the AS/NZS 1754 certification and are within their certified service life.

Can we bring our own child seat?

Yes. If you prefer your own seat, the chauffeur can fit it on arrival. For inbound airport bookings, bring the seat through arrivals, and the chauffeur fits it at the vehicle in the Level 4 P1 chauffeur zone.

What if my child outgrows the seat during the booking?

Unlikely on a single-day booking. For multi-day visiting-family bookings (a week-long Adelaide visit), we swap the seat if the child outgrows it during the visit. Tell us at the original booking call.
